Super Mario Maker 2 has been pretty solidly supported post-launch by Nintendo. But sadly, that time has finally come to an end. Nintendo is releasing one more major content patch for the game, joining the hundreds of other assets and gameplay functions added to the Switch title with one more patch’s worth of stuff. The biggest new addition is World Maker mode, coming with the upcoming final major patch to the game. The update will be available tomorrow, Apr. 22, and will include the new game mode and some extra assets.
World Maker mode is the final evolution of the massive suite of creative tools within Super Mario Maker 2, as it offers players the chance to create their ultimate dreams within their digital world. Using the various tools and assets within the game, of which there are limitless possibilities, players can craft not only entire levels and gameplay modes, but also multiple courses created by a user can be tied together and basically create self-contained Mario games.
It’s pretty handy then that a previous patch increased the upper limit of the number of courses that could be saved by one user beyond the 100 courses that the game launched with.
With the new update, that suite of assets is about to expand as well. New assets coming in the patch include a bunch of new and old powerups and the like. There will be support for the SMB2 Mushroom, the Frog Suit from Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World‘s Power Balloon, New Super Mario Bros. U‘s Super Acorn, and the Boomerang Flower from Super Mario 3D World.
