Streets of Rage 4 finally has a confirmed release date, and it’s hitting soon. The long-awaited sequel to the Sega franchise comes back at the end of this month, on April 30, and it’s bringing some new additions to its arsenal.
DotEmu and Lizardcube have put a lot of work into making the gameplay of this simple formula shine. With their previous title, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, the companies made an effort to be faithful to the original game while also giving new players something to chew on. Streets of Rage 4 continues this trend with a new gameplay mode that evokes the classic feel of this Sega franchise.
The classic Battle Mode returns in Streets of Rage 4, bringing with it the cooperative experience fans know and love from the previous games.
And with Lizardcube working on this game, the visuals will also be getting a major overhaul. The artists taking the dated but charming 90’s visuals and redoing them for modern gaming is quite something to see. As it is always cool to see how an artist takes something classic and makes it their own. With the characters and levels getting a full overhaul, it will be very interesting to see what the new game changes.
And don’t worry if you want to be able to use the nostalgia-fueled aesthetic, Players can unlock the retro looks by playing through the various game modes with the characters, this will unlock the older looks.
