State of Decay 2, the latest entry int the zombie game genre, bringing graphical improvements and a bunch of new gameplay options that make the prospect of surviving the zombie apocalypse much more fun than the first game. And it looks like the zombies are about to get bigger and better, in a more literal way. Microsoft and Undead Labs has now announced State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition, a full expansion to the open-world zombie game. The new DLC  will be free for all existing owners of State of Decay 2, including Xbox Game Pass members.

The Juggernaut Editions is somewhat akin to the Year One upgrade for the first game, in that it includes all of the improvements made to the base game to date for State of Decay 2, and some new stuff as well. The release of this expansion will also mark the end of Windows 10/Xbox One exclusivity via the Windows Store. This new launch happens on March 13th and will now release via Steam. Gameplay additions are coming to the zombie action title as well. All the base-building and character development will still be there, things are just getting a bit more varied and chaotic.

A brand-new open-world map called Providence Ridge will be the setting for an entirely new challenge with new enemy types, weapons and missions galore. State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition is also adding some destructive new weapon options. A new batch of massive melee weapons is in the game with the expansion.

Non-gameplay changes like an overhauled graphical engine and musical score also improve the game a fair bit. A cool change by Undead Labs is that the gameplay loop past the experience
