State of Decay 2 is getting an Xbox Series X/S port

X018 State of Decay 2 Zedhunter Trailer

The push into the next generation of console gaming trundles on. As Microsoft and Sony battle it out, more and more games are making the leap to next-gen platforms. Folks are excited, and they have every right to be. This time though, folks will be shambling into their nearest retailer (or e-tailer) to grab a copy of State of Decay 2. Developer Undead Labs has announced that their most-recent zombie title, State of Decay 2, will be getting a next-gen version for the Xbox Series X/S.

The revamped version will be tailored to the new consoles and will feature visuals on-par with 60 FPS and up to 1080p/4K resolution (for the Series S and Series X respectively) but that’s not all. The new version of the game will introduce a new mode that’s called Lethal Difficulty. The game will have more vicious foes that deal a lot more damage, and very scarce resources. Those deadly Plague Hearts are also all over the place, and there will be more enemy varieties as a result. These things are spreading the Blood Plague and causing a greater number of mutations. You can check out a trailer previewing Lethal Difficulty down below.

The game will have largely all the other content from the basic versions out now on Xbox and PC. The developer has announced more content though, to be added later. The Stay Frosty pack will bring some new items like weapons and the like for folks to mess around with. In total there are about a dozen new items to be found.

If you want to know what the new Xbox Series X/S version of State of Decay 2 will look like, there’s another trailer below. The game is already playable on the new Xbox, but there are no visual improvements to be had yet, at least until the new version debuts.

State of Decay 2 is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
