Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic comes to the Nintendo Switch this November

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is one of the all-time great BioWare games. Star Wars fans still praise the writing and characters as some of the best the franchise has ever seen. And even though the troubled PC port has left a sour taste in many mouths, it’s easy to see why the RPG has so many hardcore fans. There’s a reason modders still love to tinker with this franchise.

The franchise got a burst of Force Speed a while ago when a full remake of the original RPG was announced. The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake was announced earlier this month. It’ll be a PlayStation 5 and PC exclusive with “modern tech, features, visuals and more” and will be headed up by Aspyr, working alongside Lucasfilm.

That same Aspyr has now announced a full Switch port of the original version. We don’t have a confirmation of what version this port is based on. Buy Aspyr seem perfectly aware of what fans want, and those should polish off any bugs before launch.

It’s still the same original story. So without spoiling anything if you’ve never played it, here’s what to expect. You play the role of a Jedi in a story set around 3,000 years before the main franchise. A horrible war between the Sith and the Republic has been raging for some time, and you’re caught in the middle. KOTOR is a game all about morality and trying to dance between the realms of light and dark.

Players will take their party of Jedi, bounty hunters, and other beloved fighters to various iconic planets like the Wookie homeworld of Kashyyyk, and a Jedi enclave on Dantooine. Being a BioWare RPG, you can build your party from many different class choices and a bunch of weapons. And yes, you get plenty of lightsabers. With more than 30 different skills and hundreds of items, you have tons of possibilities. Craft your own story in the iconic Star Wars universe.

The classic version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on the Nintendo Switch will arrive on November 5. The game will launch at $14.99 or equivalent pricing in your region. Pre-orders are available now.
