We’ve been through this before, many times in fact, but now yet another game has wrapped up development. This time Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has gone gold and moved on to distribution. And since the game is finished, a lot of fans are wondering what plans for the future are. Sadly the game does not have any planned DLCs, and will be solely focused on a single-player experience. So that means no multiplayer either, which is expected, as a multiplayer experience would never really work with this narrative-focused setup.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an action-adventure game set after Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith. That story is one that has been explored extensively in the Legends non-canon material, but the Disney official canon hasn’t been so thorough in its storytelling in this era. Cal and his Rebel allies will be fighting hard against the Imperials, and you have to wonder how this story ends. But judging from the gameplay footage we’ve seen so far, Cal is already fairly strong in the Force. And now the fans get even more footage to sink their teeth into.
There have been some more hardcore fans and critics who think that the story will be kind of lackluster for one reason or another. But in all honesty, I think this game will be fine as a somewhat generic action title dressed up in Star Wars themes.
The 20-minute long gameplay slice has plenty of action, jumping right into what fans really want to see with the lightsaber combat, but buzzing his way through legions of Imperial troops isn’t the only talent Cal has. As the young rebel learns the ins-and-outs of his Jedi powers he unlocks more powerful abilities that he can use in battle. Various unique abilities and upgrades are also scattered throughout the levels, offering another avenue for increased power.
