Square Enix and People Can Fly confirm new game, Outriders

Outriders E3 2019 Announcement Trailer

Teased a while back was a new game from publisher Square Enix and developer People Can Fly, that new game has finally been revealed at E3 2019. Outriders is real, and it’s just as weird as the teasers implied.

So it turns out that Outriders is a futuristic shooter, one offering a grim tale of desperation and struggle that players will have to try their hardest to survive. Stranded on a hostile and dying world, the players will take on the roles of four explorers who have one mission, survive. The setting of the game, an alien planet called Enoch, is on drenched in bloody and dark sci-fi tones. Think of it like a mix of Mad Max and Blade Runner without the Replicants or nitro trucks. There’s plenty of marauders, beasts and other threats to shoot thought. Gamers will use a variety of weapons and special abilities to make it through this journey alive. with each of the four characters having their own special suite of powers.

The co-op nature of the gameplay is readily apparent, so expect to take on Outriders with yourself and up to three friends. The combat is visceral and tactical, with the enemies encountered literally able to stop bullets, as we see in the trailer.

The game has been confirmed for a 2020 release date on the PC. Check out the full trailer for the new title down below.

Sebastian Wojciechowski, studio head of People Can Fly, is very excited about this project and the future for the studio saying, “We’re very happy to be working with Square Enix on this project, it’s a big undertaking for us and the team has grown considerably to work on the Outriders project. We now have over 200 developers at four international studios working on this project to make it our most ambitious shooter to date. We’re very excited to finally unveil Outriders to the world, and we can’t wait to show you more of the game.”
