Space Hulk: Tactics is celebrating the launch of its beta on PC with it’s Genestealer trailer. The beta is live now for those gamers who pre-ordered Space Hulk: Tactics.
Space Hulk: Tactics a pretty faithful recreation of the old-school Warhammer 40,000 board game of Man versus Alien in desperate battle, prepare for battle, because this game is bringing the horror to life in gory 3D detail like you’ve never seen before. The game pits players against one another in control of either faction. The Space Marines fight like a more traditional military unit, with overlapping fields of fire and flanking being essential to success in battle. The Genestealers fight more like pack hunters, waiting for the right time to pounce and pick off weaker enemies. Depending on your choice, you’ll need to play the game very differently and your tactics need to be adaptive if you want to survive.
The pre-order beta will run up until the launch of the game, with regular updates to address bugs and balance issues as reported by the community. And on launch day, players gain access to more multiplayer maps, and two different singleplayer campaigns, one for each faction in the game. So that way you can choose to fight for the pathetic Xeno scum, or wage war to purge the filth from the galaxy.
When you begin a match and pick your faction, you can then further customize the individual units in your squad. In the case of the Genestealers, you can modify your units with cards to make them faster, more dangerous in combat, stealthier, etc. And you’ll need every advantage you can get because you’ll be taking on a highly skilled unit of Space Marine Terminators that have been bred and battle-hardened to wipe out Xenos. You do have the advantage of exceptionally powerful units like the Broodlord that can even stand toe-to-toe with normally dangerous Space Marines.
Here’s an official description from Cyanide Studio and Focus Home Interactive:
Bringing a unique twist to the classic gameplay of the cult board game, engage in bloody battles through an immense Space Hulk – a twisted mass of asteroids, wrecked ships, and debris – as either a squad of Terminator Space Marines or the deadly alien Genestealers. Which side will you choose?
Check out the new trailer for the game down below. The full version of Space Hulk: Tactics releases for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on October 9, 2018.
Cyanide Studio is also currently working on Call of Cthulhu, a tabletop RPG adaptation I’m also excited for.
