DeAndre Cortez Way, known by his rapper persona Soulja Boy, has landed in some hot water recently over his attempts to operate a “dropshipping” business to peddle various cheap electronics. The practice of dropshipping is the idea of selling products to customers, but instead of maintaining active inventory, the point is to offload all the work of production and distribution to a third party. The ease of starting up an online store selling cheap products makes this practice a haven for unscrupulous people and low-quality goods, as well as copyright infringing material.
In the case of Soulja Boy, he began selling various electronics on a personal website, many of which were made to mimic popular brands. There was the Souljawatch which was meant to be a knockoff Apple smartwatch, various headphones meant to imitate Apple Airpods and Beats Headphones. And then there was a bundle of different consoles made to look like modern consoles.
These consoles were often meant to visually mimic the Xbox One or PS4, but had none of the quality or game library of those platforms. These fake consoles were essentially a mini-PC with a basic Linux OS pre-loaded with hundreds of copyrighted games for older platforms like the NES, SNES and Game Boy.
Soulja Boy got away with selling these infringing items for a while, until Nintendo caught wind and shut down the whole operation. Something that Mr. Way bragged wasn’t going to happen when the business practice first popped up. So it looks like Mr. Way hasn’t learned his lesson, as he’s about to repeat the same mistake again.
Here are the specifications of the SouljaGame Handheld. And it’s probably safe to assume that this is just another Chinese-made knockoff complete with stolen ROMs and poor emulation. In the case of this new console, it’s listed at $99.99 USD for sale under a $200.00 MSRP, which we can assume is an extremely high price for what’s really cheap to produce.

In simple terms, this is another cheaply made mini-PC with some barebones emulation software installed, all stuffed inside of a simple plastic shell made to look like the Playstation Portable, or PSP, the 2005 Sony handheld.
