Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster releases on May 25

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster release date

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster, an enhanced version of the cult classic RPG for the PS2, is getting new life in 2021. Atlus has announced that a full redone remaster is incoming.

Atlus first released Nocturne in 2003. The story of these games is quite trippy, centering on the Conception—a strange apocalyptic event involving a merging of dimensions—and the fallout from it. Gods, angels and demons are in a constant battle for supremacy, and you’re caught in the middle of their life and death struggle. Can you survive? The only way to do that seems to be exploiting the very nature of both life and death to battle back evil forces.

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is available in a standard edition for $49.99 and a Digital Deluxe Edition for $69.99. The pricier version includes some exciting bonuses like an additional difficulty mode and added DLC characters. The added content takes the form of the Maniax and Chronicles packs, which add Dante from the Devil May Cry series.

Regardless of which version you grab, the game has fully remastered 3D visuals and redone art that adds a more next-gen feel to this aging classic. If you have been waiting to play this series after falling in love with Atlus’ later work, be prepared for something much darker and less forgiving. The Nocturne series pulls no punches.

The remasters is due to land on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Steam on May 25.
