Shakedown: Hawaii “Get to the Mission” Trailer

Shakedown: Hawaii Gameplay Trailer

Shakedown: Hawaii, the upcoming title from Vblank Entertainment is putting a new, or more accurately a refreshed retro perspective, on action titles. Inspired by the random and over-the-top chaos of franchises like GTA, Shakedown: Hawaii brings the player into a glam and glitzy adventure in a top-down world.

Shakedown: Hawaii puts the player in control of a newly minted criminal who’s looking to build their own “legitimate” criminal empire. You’ll do this not just with style, mostly involving insane vehicular stuns, explosions and gunplay, but with cunning and clever elimination of the competition and building alliances with other criminal enterprises. You’ll do all of this and more by completing open world missions, acquiring businesses, sabotaging competitors, “re-zoning” land, and shaking down shops for protection money. You’re the CEO of your own corporation, itself seemingly trapped within a universe ruled by action movie tropes and cheesiness, and you’re going to have a lot of fun.

In terms of gameplay and visual style, there’s a direct comparison to be made to a previous game from VBlank, Retro City Rampage. Shakedown: Hawaii sports not only improved visuals and better polish, but also a more finely tuned sandbox experience. The new “Get to the Mission!” trailer shows off the chaos you can bring down in the game, and that’s just the beginning. The final game will certainly let you live out your most dastardly fantasies of being a movie villain in absurd style.

Check out the trailer for the game down below. Shakedown: Hawaii will launch for PC, PS4, PS Vita (with cross-play), Nintendo Switch, and 3DS in March 2019.
