Shadow of the Tomb Raider trailers showcase TV spots and resource management

Shadow of the Tomb Raider E3 2018

This week Square Enix has unleashed a litany of new trailers for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The trailers continue the trend of putting the spotlight on various in-game challenges and other elements, so let’s dive in.

There are a lot of enemies and environmental hazards in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and you as the player will have a ton of tools to deal with these problems, but your resources are finite. Luckily, there are plenty of opportunities to harvest resources and boons from both downed enemies and the surrounding environment. Whether it’s more ammo or new weapons, or it’s herbs for a healing poultice, Lara will have plenty of options for crafting and scavenging. Much like the game gives the player plenty of options in terms of pathing and challenges they can take on.

Some of the skills Lara has will be things like Eye of the Eagle which lets players see resources in the environment, Scales of the Serpent slows down time during aiming, Owl’s Meal lets Lara harvest poison for darts, Viper’s Lure gives players the ability to craft poisonous arrows, and Viper’s Venom allows one to craft poisonous grenades to cover enemies in damaging ichor.

There’s also an extended TV spot showing quite a lot of spectacular action and a hint of the story. And then there’s the spot for the challenge tombs and the complex puzzles in the game.
