SEGA Genesis Classic reveals Switch launch date

Sega Mega Drive Classics

The Switch is getting some more retro games fun in a few months, bringing with it more than 50 of the best SEGA Genesis games ever made. If I sound excited, it’s because I am as the Genesis was one of my favorite console growing up. With the debut of various Nintendo retro titles from the Switch online service, I’ve been waiting for more classics to enjoy on the go.

A price point for SEGA Genesis Classics hasn’t been given, but it’s likely to be around $29.99 for the digital version and maybe $39.99 for the physical version, although that hasn’t been confirmed.

The collection includes some excellent games, and runs the gamut in terms of genres, gameplay styles and niche appeal. Franchises like Golden Axe and Phantasy Star are well-represented for fan looking for fantasy or sci-fi experiences. Shinobi and Sonic the Hedgehog offer some iconic muscle to appeal to Sega fans. And there’s even a bit of fighting game flair with Virtua Fighter 2. And all of these barely scratch the surface of the amount of fun that can be had with SEGA Genesis Classics.
