Rising Storm 2: Vietnam and Abzû are the two newest games being given away for free on the Epic Games Store. This week, both Rising Storm 2: Vietnam and Abzu are free to claim for anyone with an account. These deals will be up on the store until October 15 until 11 AM ET. At that time, they will be replaced with more games for free.
So just what are these games?
Abzû is a title from 505 Games that’s very unique, although deceptively simple. The impressive 3D art style is the backing for a rather mellow game. The player is sent on a casual journey through a beautiful land. it’s all very serene and relaxing. As the developers put it, “In this stunning game from the artist behind Journey, discover a lush hidden world as you descend into the heart of the ocean.”
If you’re in the mood for something to calm your mind after a hectic day, this may be good for you.
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, the squad-based shooter about the legendarily horrible American war, is next. Rising Storm 2: Vietnam supports matches of up to 64 players with 20 maps to choose from. The game features two sides engaged in brutal conflict in the south-east Asian country, set amongst a time of rabid anti-communism that’s strangely seemingly more relevant today in the U.S. than it was decades ago. That backdrop is a there for a surprisingly solid shooter from Tripwire Interactive.
The game itself is a good thing to grab if you have some pals to game with. Jump in with your clan or your friends on PC have a blast. Period-correct weapons and equipment also help sell the experience as more immersive, even as you’re busy yelling at your buddy on Discord to stop cooking you with a flamethrower.
