Resident Evil 2 gameplay shows lots of improvements, and some gore

Resident Evil 2 Remake Confirmed

Fans love Resident Evil 2, and there’s good reasons for that, it’s a damn-near masterpiece in terms of structure and late 1990s schlock.

And with the announcement of a full HD remake coming for the game in 2019, the team behind it is working to create the perfect version of the original game. There’s been a new gameplay snippet released for the remake, and there’s a lot to unpack with this.

The RPD sections of the remake have had their layout changed entirely. New rooms have been added, and the main lobby has been directly linked to the second floor, and not with that annoying ladder from the original. That infamous fountain puzzle now links to a new underground room. There have also been other gameplay changes like more enemies being added to certain areas, possibly even new enemies.

The remake of the first game was enormously changed, and it’s a much better and more interesting game because of it. This will likely be no different.

It’s not fully clear as to what else has changed, but we can infer that with the gameplay changes and massive graphical upgrade, RE2’s remake will be much more interesting to run through. Now of course some old-school fans will be angered by the dropping of the static camera, but there’s plenty of new and altered stuff to hopefully justify this major shift.

Capcom has also pledged to make this new version with a much tighter focus on survival horror. Over the years, Resident Evil as a franchise has changed to more of an action game. Capcom want that to change for the better with this new version.
