Red Dead Redemption 2 Patch 1.14 released

Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer 3

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a great game, the story of Arthur Morgan and co. is an incredibly engrossing and wonderful tale. The console versions of the game on PS4 and Xbox One were stunning, and the graphics of the PC version looked to be shockingly good. But sadly, the PC port of the long-awaited sequel is riddled with stability issues and other bugs.

Users across the board have reported stability issues of all kinds. CTDs during gameplay, graphical issues, and even the complete inability to launch the game. Issues seem very sporadic and hard to pin down as well, further adding to the confusion. Gamers have tried everything they could to fix the problem. Switching from Vulkan API to DX12 didn’t work. Updating GPU drivers and BIOS didn’t help. Even completely fresh installs of the game and Windows didn’t seem to make the game stable enough to enjoy. All told, it looks like the PC port of Red Dead Redemption 2 could have used a more rigorous testing and debugging phase before launch. Now Rockstar is having to play catch-up and has begun issuing patches to deal with some of the issues present in the game. The newest patch just dropped, and it only really fixes on specific set of issues.

Now, Rockstar has released a second update for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2.

This new patch certainly won’t change all of the different problems, and deal with the underlying code base issues users are experiencing, but at least those anti-virus issues, if you’re experiencing them, are a thing of the past. Of course such a minor fix does nothing for the users havign other problems, I just hope they didn’t get burned by pre-ordering into this buggy mess.

Alongside the hotfix for RDR2, Rockstar has also released a new version of the Rockstar Launcher. The launcher is seemingly a source of a lot of problems for many users, as it seems to not play well with various hardware configurations and software. So hopefully a new patched version should mitigate some problems, although I doubt it. Both the new launcher version and the new patch should apply next time you launch said client.
