Pokémon Go Safari Zone events postponed in St. Louis, Liverpool, and Philadelphia

Pokemon Go Fest 2018

Niantic has announced that Pokémon Go Safari Zone events in St. Louis, Liverpool, and Philadelphia have all been postponed. These events were scheduled over the next few months, and have now been delayed due to the global spread of COVID-19.

Niantic and the event organizers are offering refunds, here’s how to go about requesting your refund. Anyone looking for a refund will need to contact support about their cancelation before the dates listed below and will need the original order number to prove they are the original buyer. You need to contact support, here’s how to do it:

  1. From the Map View, open the Main Menu
  2. At the top right, tap Settings
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Get Support
  4. On iOS, tap Contact Us in the upper right corner. On Android, tap the speech bubble button.

The deadline for refund request for all three events is as follows:

  • St. Louis – March 25, 2020, at 11:59 pm PT
  • Liverpool – April 15, 2020, at 11:59 pm PT
  • Philadelphia – May 6, 2020, at 11:59 pm PT

If you don’t request a refund, there is an option for you. Those who hold on to their tickets should have them honored when the new event dates are scheduled, at a date yet to be determined. The Pokémon Go Safari Zone events will take place at some point, likely a few months from now after the pandemic has been contained. This could take longer though, as it’s impossible to say for sure how the situation could change over time.

As compensation, Niantic will be enabling the Safari Zone Pokémon encounters and Special Research events globally on the original dates of the events. This way, Trainers can enjoy the events remotely in some form. The developer said that “As an added bonus for those who retain their tickets, we will activate the Safari Zone Pokémon encounters and Special Research globally during the original scheduled event hours (in your local time zone) so that you can still enjoy the event from wherever you are in the world. Only ticket holders will be able to experience this bonus event.”

Times for the events will be converted to local time, and will allow players to unlock the special Genesect quest, all without Raids and spins. This means that players will be able to collect some awesome rewards like Premium Battle Passes, Incubators, TMs, Incense, Star Pieces, and exclusive avatar items.
