Pokémon Go daily rewards are a thing now. The feature is still in the early testing phase, but it shows promise according to Niantic. The developer has already made substantial changes to the game in response to COVID-19, and they’re not done yet. The Pokémon Go daily rewards idea has likely been in gestation for some time, it just took a major pandemic to push the impetus on the issue to new heights.
As of now, the idea has taken two forms. A new daily login system that will reward both guaranteed encounters, as well as daily loot boxes akin to Gifts.
Right now the ideas as just being tested on a small number of players. Niantic plans to roll the system out to a wider playerbase if reception is positive. It could take some time, possibly months, before these items show up in-game on a wide scale though.
Will There be Guaranteed Encounters?
The new system will be introduced by Professor Willow when players log into the game. The fine Professor will talk about needing help developing some new technology, and the daily rewards will take several forms, all while tying into that plot device. The device in question is a new incense device that creates daily guaranteed encounters when opening the game each day.
Players who live in more remote areas may find this really helpful. And even more so as COVID-19 continues to spread, preventing many people from traveling for various reasons.
There’s still a lot of mystery surrounding the encounters. It’s not known what Pokémon can spawn with these daily encounters. It seems likely that the pool of spawns is wide. And if Niantic goes through with it, you can bet they will eventually tie the system to events and rewards for consistent players.

What’s in the Pokémon Go Daily Rewards Boxes?
Random daily boxes will also be given out to players who play the game consistently. Those who login to the game each day have a chance to get a special loot box containing various items. We can’t say for sure what each box will contain, but it will likely be on the same tier as the Gift you get from other players. So expect items like Poké Balls, revives, berries and more.
And it has not been confirmed, but the suspicion is that Niantic will also tie special events into this system at some point as well.
