Platinum Games teases G. G. Project, new Hero Trilogy game

PlatinumGames

In an interview with FamitsuG. G. Project was revealed as the next game in the Platinum 4 initiative. This new title will be helmed by legendary game director Hideki Kamiya and is being self-published “on all existing platforms.” As to what the game actually is, that’s a bit of an intriguing mystery. Kamiya described the game as “Project G.G. is a giant hero-esque title.”

The gameplay was teased in a new trailer, showing a boy posing under a pale light, before transforming into a kaiju of sorts. And judging from the statements made around the reveal, we’re going into fully weird territory with this one. Hideki Kamiya said during the interview that “Project G.G. is different. Unlike any of the games we’ve made so far, it’s going to be a 100% PlatinumGames title. For everything from its setting and characters, to its game design and story, to how it’s promoted – PlatinumGames is in full control.”

Despite the mystery, the game looks like it’s going to be a passionate project, and both Platinum as a whole and Kamiya appear excited, “Having full control over the Project G.G. IP gives us a ton of freedom, but also a ton of responsibility. Still, I think we can harness that sense of responsibility and turn it into motivation to make Project G.G. the best game it can be,” said the director.

We’re still a long way off from seeing more of this one as it’s very early in development. It will be some time before we see this new title on the shelves.
