Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire’s Ultimate Edition set to launch on consoles

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire's Ultimate Edition

Obsidian Entertainment, the developers behind Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds, is releasing a new version of one of their modern classics. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is that classic. The RPG titan is bringing an Ultimate Edition of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2020.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is the sequel to Obsidian Entertainment’s Kickstarter-funded Pillars of Eternity, which launched in 2015. Where the original game in the series borrowed heavily from classic CRPGs, much to the delight of fans, the sequel took things in a bold new direction. At the end of the first game, your efforts as a mystical and powerful Watcher have been undone by a rampaging and very angry god.

Returning to the world of the living, you give chase to said very miffed deity to the Deadfire Archipelago. Using your powers to peer into the souls, and thus gain new insights and secrets about those around you, the Watcher and a peanut gallery of interesting companions must fight back against the evil ambitions of powerful new enemies. The developers also improved on the formula with Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, by adding elements like a full exploration and much more customization. And yes, since it’s a sequel, those who played the original can carry progress over.

Check it out in the trailer below.

There are two version of this new console port. There’s the $60 Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire basic edition. This is the base game and all three of the previously released DLC. Each DLC pack for the RPG includes new story missions, weapons, enemies and other content. They are known as Beast of Winter, The Forgotten Sanctum, and Seeker, Slayer, Survivor.

If you’re really committed to this franchise, there’s the Ultimate Collector’s edition for a much higher price tag. This version comes with the base game, a 10-inch Od Nua statue, a keychain, a premium box, and a metal sticker. This version will cost you $129.99.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire will release to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on Jan. 28, 2020. Grab your copy now on Amazon.
