Phantasy Star Online 2 coming to PC

Sega has announced today that their newest Western ported MMORPG, Phantasy Star Online 2 will be making the jump to PC in full. We all knew this was coming, we just had to know when. It turns out that the PC port of Phantasy Star Online 2 will jump onto the platform on May 27. Since PSO2 hit Xbox One in Closed Beta earlier this year, there were a ton of people who wanted this to happen.

Going deeper into the details, Fred White, PSO2 TEAM North America’s Head of Marketing, said:

“We’re thrilled to announce the long-awaited arrival on PC. There’s a loud and passionate PC fanbase who has been patiently waiting for the North American version. We can’t wait to welcome them in. There will be login bonuses waiting for them with more surprises planned in the coming months.”

And yes, since it is free-to-play, there will be some form of monetization. Players who want to take part can down download the game via the Windows Store, and can get to experience the full package. There’s localized voice acting and the full Phantasy Star Online 2 story rolled into the game. That’s three years worth of content from the Japanese version localized to North America.

All the balance updates, patches and extra game content is included in the game version for PC as well. This means it’s going to be at full feature parity from day one. Phantasy Star Online 2 will also support cross-play between PC and Xbox One versions, which is great to see.

Players can choose from four races and nine classes while tackling various missions. They can also take a break from questing by playing one of the many Casino mini-games, chilling in the Alliance Quarters, competing in the new ARKS League or attending all-new live stage events.
