Phantasy Star Online 2 Announced for PS4

The previous game Phantasy Star Universe on the Xbox 360 was a game I spent a fair amount of time with years ago. PSU definitely had it’s issues with grinding, extremely easy and linear gameplay, and a somewhat uninteresting story. Despite all that, I still loved it. This week Sega that Phantasy Star Online 2 would be heading to PS4 after it’s success on other platforms and on international markets.. Though with no Western release in sight, it looks like I will be out of luck for some time.

The free-to-play online role-playing game initially launched on PC in 2012 and came to PlayStation Vita the following year. Last spring, PSO2 spread to Southeast Asia (Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines), courtesy of Bangkok-based MMO publisher Asiasoft.

Player reaction that Ive seen hints at mixed opinions. Some are feeling disappointed after playing around with the Japanese version, others feel the new game is definite improvement. And others prefer wishing for Sega to continue with singeplayer games for the series over an MMO.
