Pearl Abyss announces new Archer class during TwitchCon
Black Desert Online Remastered is getting a male variant of the Ranger, according to a new teaser from Pearly Abyss released this week. Say hello to the Archer
There isn’t much gameplay to be gleaned from the teaser, which can be seen below. But we can get a bit of insight into the gameplay for this new character from it’s official description.
Said description of the Archer is as follows:
The Archer uses his Crossbow for his stylish ranged attack and skill combos. In addition, the Archer has an assortment of magic skills at his disposal that assist him in combat by upsetting the opponents’ balance, and wreak havoc by unleashing a flurry of arrows with his Crossbow from afar.
He is never flustered nor disoriented even in the thick of the battle. The Archer can easily escape without breaking a sweat even when he is outnumbered by countless foes. This brand new male class is set to receive a rich storyline in which its background will be fully explored when he gets added to the current roster of available characters.
What we can tell from this Crossbow-wielding badass is that players will likely be running a support DPS role with it. Which puts it in a very similar to the already existing Ranger setup. The new Archer is uses a bow as their mainhand weapon, making it much more of a long-ranged character compared to the Ranger which can site comfortably as a melee or ranged fighter.
Looking through official ability descriptions, which have been partially translated by fans, we see a distinct combat style emerging. The class has multiple single-target and AoE abilities for offense. It’s defensive options focus entirely on dodging and evasion. With multiple movement abilities Archer players will have plenty of options for getting out of harms way in a fight. This does likely mean that the class may turn out to be quite squishy and easy to kill once pinned down or cornered.
The Archer will come to Black Desert Online Remastered sometime in the near future, possibly as part of the Drieghan expansion series of updates.
