Path of Exile: The Fall of Oriath Release Date Trailer

Path of Exile: The Fall of Oriath, the expansion with “six acts and a whole lot of deicide,” will be out on August 4, developer Grinding Gear Games announced today. The expansion will double the size of the current game and adds a new “Pantheon character customization system that lets players wield the power of the Gods themselves.”.

The massive shift in gameplay will be a huge change for old veterans of the franchise. The old Act 1 zone of the Fetid Pools have become a lush forest, and have been moved to the new Act 6. We’ve also seen previous zones and boss battles in previous coverage. For anyone not familiar with the setup for Fall of Oriath, here it is in very basic rundown.

The land of Oriath is the former homeland of the Exiles. Since the acts of the original game, things have gone downhill in a very bad way. The massive upheaval and destruction caused by the deaths of the game’s major bosses has caused the last vestiges of society in Oriath to collapse at a frightening rate. The Exile returns home to try and turn things around. And as is seemingly par for the course in apocalyptic scenarios, the Gods themselves have returned to this mortal coil; and they are more than a little angry.

The Exiles will now have to battle the Gods themselves in order to gain the power to save the world, again.
