Path of Exile: Harvest Seeds are the core new mechanic for the challenge league. The new NPC Oshabi will take you to The Sacred Grove, where Seeds can be planted and harvested for various rewards. Some Seeds will spawn mob encounters, others can be combined together when harvested to create a certain effect. If you need to reroll a Map or Rare, there’s Seeds for that. There’s also Seeds fo adding modifiers for attack types or damage to items, and so much more.

Check out our other Path of Exile 3.11 Guides:

The first seeds you get will spawn out in the world during regular play. But the best results with crafting involve rarer Seeds that take a bit of work to get.

Lifeforce and Infrastructure

Raw Lifeforce is the resource harvested directly before putting it into a Condenser. This will be what you combine with Seeds to perform your crafting directly. Although the higher tier rewards require a bit more work. To get the best impact with the higher tiers, you need to condense your Lifeforce and build out your garden.

Condensed Lifeforce is the lifeblood of your garden. You will harvest and store it, and you need to consistently feed your Grove with the correct Lifeforce to make the related types of Seeds grow. There are four main types of infrastructure: Collectors (harvests your plants and lets you craft), Dispersers (uses Condensed Lifeforce to grow higher-tier plants), Storage Tanks (holds more Condensed Lifeforce) and Pylons (used to connect pieces of your infrastructure).

Path of Exile: Harvest Seeds have their own tiers, with each tier offering different levels of outcomes. The more powerful tiers have higher requirements to raise, but also pay out the best rewards. There are also multiple subtypes for each seed. Each seed is tied to a specific type of Lifeforce harvested from the garden and the resources you put into it.  The three types of Lifeforce are Wild, Vivid and Primal. You need to harvest each one and attach it to the related kind of Lifeforce.

And yes, this makes the layout very important. The placement of everything from the plants themselves to the infrastructure can seriously impact the yield of your crops. If there are plants not getting enough Condensed Lifeforce, you may not get the results you want.

Higher-tier seeds can be found from slain monsters in the Sacred Grove and have special growth requirements: a minimum number of other seeds of a certain type planted next to them, as well as a certain amount of Condensed Lifeforce used for irrigation at each stage of its growth. That means that the layout of your seeds, and the infrastructure that enables their growth, is important.

The lowest tier of Seeds are usually found on certain types of enemies, so Seeds with Fire modifiers will drop from enemies dealing that kind of damage. When you harvest lower-tier Seeds, they will sometimes spawn monsters that can drop higher tier seeds. So you want to have a stock of all kinds of Seeds if you plan to get deep into the crafting.

Tier 1 Seeds are the most common and come from any of the random encounters within the various areas of the game. You can use these to add or remove mods from Magic items and a bunch of other basic stuff. Tier 2 Seeds can do things like re-rolling Rare items, adding more modifiers to the Map Device, and even converting entire stacks of currency. The higher tiers beyond that offer some truly insane effects.
