Overwatch announces Winter Wonderland 2018 events

Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2018 Details

Overwatch is no stranger to festive fun and seasonal events, and Blizzard has just announced the next major in-game event for the popular FPS.

Complete with some redecorated maps, this new event is really looking to get FPS fans into the holiday mood. Winter Wonderland 2018 will also see the return of the Yeti Hunter and Mei’s Snowball Offensive winter brawls.

Mei’s Snowball Offensive is a fun little game type that features joyful narration by Soldier 76 as players take a 6v6 game to an icy conclusion, using only Mei and a limited weapons selection, to see which group has the best ability to be an ice queen. This brawl takes place in the winter versions of Ecopoint: Antarctica and Black Forest.

Yeti Hunter takes the holiday madness to new heights, with more Mei goodness. Because after all, Mei is love, Mei is life. Anyway, Yeti Hunter is a 5v1 mode in which a team of five Mei players must take on one Winston, the Yeti. The Hunters’ goal is to eliminate the Yeti while the Yeti’s goal is to get 5 eliminations on Yeti Hunters.

And just like all other in-game events in Overwatch, there’s a whole sled-load of skins, emotes and other stocking stuffers for gamers to unlock. And yes, all the previous rewards from other events will be available during the festivities as well. So now is the perfect time to jump onto Overwatch and join in some games to get in on the wintery fun.

Check out the preview trailer for this new bundle of festive Christmas events down below, complete with previews of some of the new custom skins and emotes players can earn in-game. The 2018 Overwatch Winter Wonderland event runs until January 2.  Full details are up at playoverwatch.com.
