Blizzard has just announced the latest addition to the roster in Overwatch. Coming soon to the battlefield in the hero-based shooter, is a new support character named Baptiste.
Baptiste is the 29th roster addition to Overwatch, and he’s pretty cool. This combat medic hails for Haiti, and brings a fair bit of cool-headed flair and combat prowess to the FPS. Baptiste is very much an idealist, and he wears his ambitions and beliefs proudly. “For some, that means a bandage,” he says in his origin story video. “For others, a bullet.”
His story revolve around, like so many others universe, the omnic crisis. This terrible string of events left him orphaned and desperate. Throughout his life, he made some tough choices and bad moves, which led him down a dark path. Baptiste even ran with Talon for a while, although he seems to have had a change of heart and switched sides. For the uninformed, Talon is the ubiquitous bad guy group in the Overwatch lore, the one led by the likes of Reaper.
To celebrate this “little” announcement, Blizzard also dropped a stylish trailer for the occasion, one which reveals the new hero’s origin story, check that out below. Baptiste will be getting a full release on the PTR very soon, although exact dates are unclear at this time. Players can expect him to drop into live servers shortly after that initial test run. And if I were a betting man, I’d wager on us getting to take advantage of this new hero in just a few weeks at the most.
And with other sassy heroes like Ashe in the running, Baptiste players will have plenty of opposition to deal with.
Overwatch is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
