Overkill’s The Walking Dead Delayed on Consoles

Overkill's The Walking Dead Misses Revenue Targets

Starbreeze is having a really tough time, and these last few months just seem to be getting worse. Since the launch of Overkill’s The Walking Dead, the company has fallen on hard times, primarily due to issues with that game in particular.  After multiple delays caused the game to miss it’s release window by years, the hits just kept coming. Lackluster sales stemming from the poor reception of the shooter has even caused major financial problems for the game maker.

Since these initial missteps, Starbreeze has been banking on the console release of the game to help turn the negative tide, but now the waves seem poised to overturn the ship entirely.

The game was supposed to debut on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 next month, but it looks like that plan is no longer in place. This was of course after the console ports were already delayed once back in November 2018. The reasons are vague, and we don’t know what the new release date for the console versions will be, but we can expect the various issues and negative feedback had something to do with this.

Publisher Starbreeze has said it’s “currently evaluating and reviewing the performance of the game Overkill’s The Walking Dead on consoles.”

What that actually turns out to mean is anyone’s guess. But it seems all but certain that Overkill’s The Walking Dead is headed for more bad news. Because despite attempts to continue supporting the game into the future, it continues to look as though the game just wasn’t ready to release.

What do you think this all means? Do you have any faith left for this zombie shooter? Let us know in the comments.
