One Punch Man game announced, coming soon

One Punch Man Video Game Announced for Consoles

One Punch Man is getting a pair of new games based on the exploits of Saitama, Genos and the rest of the heroes anime and manga fans love.

The development of the new console game is being lead by Spike Chunsoft, the studio most well-known for the Danganrompa series of quirky Japanese titles. This newest outing will bring many beloved characters from the manga/anime to life in a new game called One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows.

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows will feature of course Saitama, as well as the cyborg Genos, Hellish Blizzard, Speed o’ Sound Sonic, and even Mumen Rider. The trailer shows off the most powerful bad guy from season one of the anime, Boros. This suggests that the game will be a retelling of the first season of the anime.

The anime and manga property details the exploits of unlikely hero Saitama, who is able to take down foes with little to no effort, often using just a single punch. He gained this insane level of power after engaging in a superhuman level of training, and part of his character arc revolves around overcoming the assumptions people have about his physical ability.

Spike Chunsoft and Bandai Namco have yet to reveal many details about the game, but there is a new gameplay trailer, which can be viewed below. We do know that the gameplay loop will center around the concept of a 3v3 fighter, and is “coming soon” to PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. One neat detail is that the game’s audio will be entirely in Japanese, so no dub dialogue here.

This is of course one of two different games in development based on the iconic property. One Punch Man is also getting a turn-based mix of card game and RPG for mobile devices. One-Punch Man: Road to Hero was also announced for iOS and Android mobile devices, and it’s set to launch later, after this mainline console title. We don’t know the exact date, but the mobile game is set to release after the second season of the anime.

One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
