Nvidia GeForce Now claims more than 1 million gamers

NVIDIA GeForce Now

Nvidia GeForce Now has exploded in popularity. The service has launched, and in just a few months, gamers all over the globe have jumped onboard.  “Over 1 million new gamers have taken to the cloud by signing up for a free plan or upgrading to the Founders membership, which includes a 90-day free trial”, said Nvidia in a blog post.

GeForce Now allows you to play PC games that are already in your Steam, Epic Games Store, uPlay, and Origin libraries, all across PC and Mac. This variety of services is a huge selling point for the service, and NVIDIA is looking to expand the offering as well. According to NVIDIA, the service now has “an additional 1,500 games in our onboarding queue, from publishers that share a vision of expanding PC gaming to more people.”

This should result in a ton more growth for the burgeoning service. The service has made a rather strong opening against Google Stadia. Whereas Nvidia GeForce Now had tons of games on launch, Stadia had basically nothing. Only a few games, and a near-complete lack of promised features left Stadia struggling to be a good sell prospect to anyone.

As Nvidia GeForce Now continues to bring more games into the fold, including brand new AAA release like Cyberpunk 2077, the popularity will only grow. Occasionally NVIDIA has to contend with other companies wanting games pulled from the service, like Activision Blizzard. Despite these kinds of stumbles, the future looks green for cloud-based gaming.
