No Man’s Sky will finally have actual multiplayer

No Man's Sky NEXT Update adding multiplayer

Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky is gearing up for the launch of its biggest update to date next week, arriving day-and-date with the Xbox One version on July 24 and 27, depending on your region. The so-called “NEXT” update will the most game-changing addition to the space sim yet.

After nearly two years of ongoing work from the overhyped and disastrous launch, it looks like some of the lies of Sean Murray finally became truths. At launch in 2016, there was no multiplayer to speak of in the game, in fact, players couldn’t even see each other. This was in direct contrast to statements made by Sean Murray during the press tour for the game. You can see more of the hilariously irritating stuff Sean Murray made up in this excellent compilation.

The Next update will allow players to either team up with friends or strangers and explore the endlessly generated galaxies of No Man’s Sky. The gameplay will remain largely the game, with base-building, resource gathering and trading, and general spacey exploration.

Take a look at the multiplayer gameplay preview for No Man’s Sky down below. No Man’s Sky’s Next update will deploy on July 24 alongside the Xbox One version of the game in the US and July 27 in Europe.
