No Man’s Sky Update 3.10 Kicks Off Next-Gen

Fans of the controversial, but now much better, No Man’s Sky have been having a blast exploring the infinite universe within the game. Hello Games revealed some more good news though as this title is that latest to reveal plans for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X release next month. The update coincides with an update to other versions of the game, which bring a new level of visual quality to the whole affair. The company even put out a new trailer for the update, No Man’s Sky Update 3.10, which can be seen below.

No Man’s Sky Update 3.10 will focus a lot on the details. The immersion of a massive sci-fi universe is key, so why not crank that up a bit. Hello Games is amping up the detail and density for flora and fauna across all planets running the next-gen version of the game. There will also be a big push to improve texture and geometric detail. There will also be a few performance optimizations on various platforms that improve load times for a bunch of stuff. The game will run at 4K resolution at 60FPS on the new console hardware, but that’s not all.

The upgrade will be free to all existing owners of No Man’s Sky, and as an extra bonus save transfers will be a thing. No Man’s Sky Update 3.10 will bring about a higher tier of visual quality, meant for the PS5 and XSX, but also adapted to the PC. PC players of No Man’s Sky will get access to a new “Ultra” preset that has all the bells and whistles turned on.

VISUAL ENHANCEMENTS
  • Increases the distance at which detailed grass, plants, rocks and other objects are shown for next-generation consoles and PCs running on “Ultra” settings.
  • Increases the density of terrain details such as foliage, fungi and rocks for next-generation consoles and PCs running on “Ultra” settings.
  • Texture and geometric detail on a large number of objects such as foliage, fungi and rocks has been significantly increased.
  • Improved the visual effect of grass being pushed aside when walking through it.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the water horizon to appear bumpy.
  • Fixed an issue that could occasionally cause grass to fail to render.
  • Also fixed an issue that caused butterfly bellies to be unintentionally always white.
  • Fixed an issue that caused planetary lighting to change after opening and closing Photo Mode.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause foliage to disappear when moving the camera in Photo Mode.
  • Refreshed the set of community images on the Mode Select screen.
  • Updated the style of the hazard protection icons on the HUD.
  • Updated the style of the icons displayed by mission notifications and markers.
PERFORMANCE & STABILITY
  • Fixed a number of rendering-related crashes on PS4.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause very large saves to fail to load on PC.
  • Optimized terrain generation on Xbox One.
  • Introduced a significant number of performance optimizations for all platforms.
