No Man’s Sky gets 20 minutes of gameplay in preview
A lot of confusion surrounds No Man’s Sky, mostly as to what exactly players get to do in the expansive space exploration game. The allure of exploring an infinite foreign universe will be appealing to the type of players who enjoy exploration more than space-trucking or combat. This IGN preview will show off much of that appeal.
Some interesting points: weapons and ships will be procedurally generated, with the video mentioning “hundreds of thousands” of possible variants. The game’s user interface is very Destiny-centric, while mining for resources is as simple as shooting at them. Creatures will headbutt you to death if you’re not careful, but you’d be silly to retalliate: robot sentries guarding each of the planets do not negotiate.
