Nintendo unveiled Magolor for Kirby: Star Allies

Kirby: Star Allies Magolor Trailer

Nintendo is teasing a new characters for Kirby: Star Allies, via a brand new gameplay trailer. Kirby fans might just recognize the newest additions to the roster, if they really know Kirby, wink.

Those three additions are The Three Mage-Sisters, Magolor, Taranza and Susie, and all these new Dream Friends will come to the game on November 30 as part of a free title update, 4.0 specifially. In that update, in-game bosses are getting buffs in the form of new EX modes, making already difficult encounters even more challenging. A new set of levels based on Another Dimension will also be present in this update.

Magolor, Taranza and Susie are three new Dream Friends, each with their own unique abilities. And each one even has their own backstory in the Kirby universe. Magalor is a magic-wielding alien who first appeared as the antagonist in Kirby’s Return to Dream Land. He eventually became a do-gooder, and now joins Kirby and friends in their various hijinks. Taranza was once an antagonist in Kirby: Triple Deluxe, but has also since come to show some regret for his past actions. Susie is yet another former antagonist, this time from Kirby: Planet Robobot. She can attack with a ray gun and uses a propeller machine to float in the air, where she can also use the ray gun.

I sense a running theme here with the characters being chosen for this latest content wave. Although it remains to be seen exactly what kind of shenanigans these three will be up to this time. For those that don’t know Dream Friends are a special mechanic in this game that adds a layer of randomization to what allies Kirby can recruit. Dream Friends are special friends (and even a few foes, like Marx and Dark Meta Knight) from past Kirby titles. They are randomly selected via a roulette wheel when the Dream Rod is used, and the Friend selected is the one that Kirby gets to recruit.
