Nintendo announces Pokémon Direct, coming in livestream tomorrow

Pokémon Direct

Nintendo has announced a Pokémon livestream that’s going to happen soon. The stream will take place tomorrow on Jan. 9. Check out the livestream below, which is embedded below. You can come back in 14 hours to watch the Pokémon Direct as well. The presentation will take place at 6:30am PT/9:30am ET and will be live-streamed on the official Nintendo Youtube channel.

As to what the stream will contain, there’s a lot of potential here. With all of the Switch and mobile titles in the brand in 2019 and beyond, Nintendo has a great stable of titles to pick from.  Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go EeveePokémon Sword and Shield, and Pokémon GO are all on the docket for getting some potential news.

We might also see new in-game events coming for the various major games. The Pokémon Company has been really good about putting new events into games like Sword and ShieldPokémon GO, or Pokémon Masters. Gamers could also get some details about that weird Pokémon Sleep companion app that was teased a while back.

But it’s not just games that could be detailed. The Pokémon Direct could also highlight new features that transcend a certain title. Pokémon Home is a perfect example of this. This feature allows players to store Pokémon in a repository regardless of game, the system supports all of the different current-gen Pokémon titles for consoles and mobile devices.

Then there’s the potential tease of the supposed Switch Pro. The more powerful Switch variant was allegedly leaked this week, and would include a new CPU and all-alloy body. Although it’s unconfirmed and very unlikely it would show up in a Pokémon Direct, it would be cool to see.
