Shadow Of The Tomb Raider DLC The Nightmare Released
The newest DLC for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, titled The Nightmare, is out today. It includes not only a new story mission, but a new outfit and climbing axe for Lara to use. The Nightmare is a bit of a twist compared to both other DLC packs for the game, as well as the overall tone of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. That’s because Lara is coming face-to-face with some interesting and creepy new challenges. The primary threat is the ghoulish White Breath, a lost and mysterious threat that waits deep in the jungle.
That new gear that I mentioned takes the form of the Scales of Q outfit, which adds a really interesting new look to the infamous tomb raider. There’s also the Grip of Fear axe, which can knock down enemies for a longer duration of time. These two items comprise the Fear Incarnate gear set which can be earned by completing the DLC.
The DLC will also enable the ability for players to take on any previously completed or attempted Tombs over again as well. There’s new Time Attack and Score Attack modes for each of these, and a new Challenge Tomb added with the DLC called Howl of the Monkey Gods. These new challenge runs bring plenty of new traps and other problems to overcome, and can be played solo or cooperatively.
The story is pretty somber. Lara is afflicted with a poison called the White Breath which causes insane hallucinations and other ailments. In her quest to escape the dangerous situation she becomes entangled in and find a cure, her sanity will be tested as she battles her inner demons given form. Along the way she’ll also be haunted by past decisions and failures as she experiences the pain of loss all over again.
Check out the latest trailer for this new bit of DLC down below. You can purchase the pack on its own for $4.99 USD. However, it does come included if you’ve purchased the $29.99 USD Season Pass. The base game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, is out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Macintosh operating systems.
