New World’s update 1.1 patch notes detailed

How to get fish filets in New World

The biggest change in New World update 1.1 concerns the AFK logout system. The proliferation of players avoiding the AFK timer is a real problem for this MMO. Login queues have been a thing since launch, and Amazon Game Studios want to deal with it as best they can. Previously teased changes included adjustments to AFK timers, as well as unspecified AFK detection systems. Now we see that this new patch takes the first steps. The AFK timer has been shortened by 5 minutes, both applied to the warning and the actual forced logout.

Another layer of the changes in 1.1 to deal with capacity issues comes in the form of new infrastructure for character server transfers. Players can now request character moves to lower-capacity servers. This should help a bit with the ongoing problem of server load in the game. The developers stress that the system is still in active development, so transfer requests will likely take some time to complete.

Some balance adjustments to PvP are also thrown in, players will find that performance of certain attacks like turrets are better overall. Some bugs will remain, obviously. Overall, it’s a small patch, but still very much needed. You can find the full New World update 1.1 patch note down below.

New World Update 1.1 Patch Notes

General

We’ve implemented the groundwork for the character server transfer, and you may see elements of that work in the in-game store. We’re continuing to work on this feature and will have more information on how the system works later this week when we release server transfers.

War

Changed turret projectiles in War from physical projectiles to use hitscan detection. This should help performance in War, with fewer objects being spawned in the world.

AFK Preventation

In an effort to ensure players can’t stay AFK, especially in higher population servers, we’ve made the following adjustments to the AFK prevention system.

World Queue

We added a confirmation screen when a player attempts to leave the queue for a world, asking the player to confirm if they’re intending to leave the queue. This should help ensure nobody accidentally leaves the queue and misses out on their spot in line.
