New raid event brings Gigantamax Milcery to Pokémon Sword and Shield

Switch production drops from coronavirus

Gigantamax raids have been a thing a few times so far in Pokémon Sword and Shield. These special super-tough boss battles have been a way for players to challenge their endgame grind by challenging and capturing massive versions of different monsters in multiplayer battles. The increased need for timing and tactics has made these Max Raids pretty challenging, but players still seem to enjoy them a fair bit. And now, Game Freak has announced a new Gigantamax Milcery Raid.

There are also other Max Raid Events happening now that are scheduled to end on February 7th. Previous events have run to allow players to catch a Gigantamax Snorlax, for example. Players have also been given a ton of Mystery Gift codes to claim bundles of Pokéballs. “Look out for Max Raid Battles featuring special Milcery that can Gigantamax when evolved into Alcremie until February 16! You may also receive various Sweets that couldn’t be obtained before…” says the announcement.

The new Raid also includes a bunch of new items as rewards The two new Sweets, Ribbon and Star items, each with their own stat-altering properties, can be earned in the limited-time event.

That’s not the only special event Game Freak has ongoing in their premier Switch title though.  Players can claim 10 Heal Balls via Mystery Gift using the code G1GAGRANF1NALE.

2020 is bound to be a very exciting year for the fans. Nintendo may not be planning to drop a new Switch model this year, but that hasn’t stopped Game Freak and The Pokémon Company from pushing out not just events, but plans for new DLC and other content. The big news is that the Pokédex for the Switch version will be jumped up by 200+ entries when “The Isle of Armor” and “The Crown Tundra”  expansions drop later this year, adding new zones and more to the game.

The meteoric rise of Pokémon Sword and Shield has also led to the hype surrounding Pokémon Home, a premium service for storing transferring and trading Pokémon across different games.
