Tokyo Game Show 2020 was an all-online event this year for obvious reasons, That didn’t stop the event from bringing out some real bangers in terms of news and reveals for upcoming games. All of the big companies had some news to offer, and Nintendo was no exception. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was one of several titles they showed off at the event.

The new brawler being made in collaboration with Koei Tecmo looks to put a more interesting spin on the Musou genre that has long been a time coming, Koei Tecmo and Nintendo’s original Hyrule Warriors released back in 2014, and now the pair is looking to revitalize the property.  Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a prequel to Breath of The Wild and brings new elements to the story as well, furthering the appeal for hardcore fans.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is set to release on November 20 on Nintendo Switch. Check out some of the new footage via a trailer below.

As for what’s coming, there’s actually some interesting cross-over between the various games. According to Nintendo,  “If you have save data for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on your Nintendo Switch, you’ll receive the bonus Training Sword weapon for Link in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.” And if you pre-order the digital version of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, you’ll get a rather powerful in-game item that acts as a nice bit of gear for battle. There are some teases that Nintendo plans to release this item, among others, as DLC in the future, but that has not been guaranteed.
