Neverwinter Heart of Fire module collaboration announced

Neverwinter Announces Heart of Fire Module Collab

Legendary D&D group that formed out of Penny Arcade, Acquisitions Incorporated, is back in the limelight once again thanks to a collaboration with the Neverwinter MMO.

The adventure takes the form of a new module being themed around the Acquisitions Inc. D&D campaign. Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins plus Amy Falcone are all lending their voice talents for this release as well. A new Skirmish themed after the Acquisitions Inc. campaign is a core part too.

The adventure itself will take on much of the wit and humor that fans of the Penny Arcade D&D content will love. Ghosts of scores of former interns haunt the run-down ruins of the Acquisitions Inc. offices, and it’ll be up to you to help clear them out. Although you should expect plenty of surprises along the way. This story-heavy and comedic module is aimed at multiple levels of players, so everyone should be able to enjoy it when it comes out.

Here’s the official blurb about The Heart of Fire, as well as a great new promo trailer down below. Expect the full module to land on November 6.

A job faire goes horribly awry in the Blacklake District when Walnut Dankgrass (Amy Falcone) asks adventurers to eliminate the competition who are potentially luring eager prospects away. Aiding the Druid leads to even greater opportunity: an intern trial at the newly-constructed Acq. Inc. headquarters in the heart of Protector’s Enclave. One exhilarating orientation later, adventurers are set loose on the Sword Coast with a mission from Omin Dran (Jerry Holkins) himself, “Find some giant red rubies!” With the occasional “assistance” from Jim Darkmagic (Mike Krahulik), players begin an expedition throughout the Sword Coast that grows more ridiculous with every request: infiltrate a Beholder convention, battle sky pirates in the Acquisitions Inc. airship and rescue royalty culminating in a marvelous new Skirmish. Additionally, the Professions system is receiving an overhaul which will allow players to own and manage their personalized workshop in Protector’s Enclave.

But it’s not just a new themed module that has Neverwinter fans excited this week. A new official blog has been posted which revealed big changes coming to professions with The Heart of Fire.

Player bases called Workshops are being added to the game, and the older timed professions system is being replaced with a new Artisan system. There are more than 200 Artisans to hire, each with their own skills and specializations. It sounds a fair bit like the worker system from SWTOR to me, we’ll just have to wait and see how that comparison pans out.

The system allows players to send out hirelings to gather and process resources, and everything is delivered back to your workshop for easy storage and further processing. Overall, the goal is to make the system less tedious, and I hope that’s achieved because the current system is just annoying busy work. Expect more news as the release date of The Heart of Fire draws near.

For now, check out the official Neverwinter site for more on the new system.
