NBA Playgrounds 2 coming back to the court

NBA Playground 2

Saber Interactive has announced NBA Playgrounds 2.

The new sequel is coming to Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch sometime this year. The sequel introduces much more streamlined online play and a host of new modes to the series. The developers are promising to bring dedicated servers to the various multiplayer modes to improve speed and stability, as well as revising the matchmaking system to improve speed there too. The developer acknowledged that lag was an issue in the previous game, so they’re working to make sure it isn’t a problem this time around.

One of the big new additions is the Playgrounds Championship mode that uses a ranked multiplayer system to determine the best NBA Playgrounds 2 players from around the world. There’s also a self-contained Season mode for those who want a singleplayer experience. Whether you want to take a team through to the NBA Championship, or compete with your friends in four player online matches, NBA Playgrounds 2 has what you need.

But that’s not all, NBA Playgrounds 2 also brings a massive roster onto the court with over 200 current and former NBA stars. Greats like Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Shaq, Larry Bird and dozens more will show up in this game. The system for unlocking these players will likely take the form of Card Packs from the previous game. Let’s just hope drop rates have been improved so players don’t have to farm tournaments for hours to unlock a single player they want.
