Tactical combat games are a genre that have largely been defined by a handful of games. XCOM is probably one of the most iconic entries into the genre, but there’s a new big boy on the block looking to make it’s own mark. With Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, Swedish development studio The Bearded Ladies Consulting is looking to bring a new breath of life to the genre, with a strong tilt toward the weird side of things.
In this new trailer for the game, we’re introduced to the game world and the strange characters that inhabit it. And despite the supposedly cute and cuddly appearance of some of these things, there’s not a very fun and friendly atmosphere to Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. In this new title, you prowl the wasteland of a post-apocalyptic world looking for supplies to keep the last bastion of civilization, the Ark, up and running.
Your helpful squad of rough and tough mutants is strange cast of weirdos indeed. From a mutated duck to an overgrown pig, each member of your team has their own unique abilities and usefulness in combat. Players can also augment their abilities and equipment over the course of the game with various unlocks and parts scavenged from the loot you pick up.
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is out now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Check out the wacky cast of mutated characters in the launch trailer. Check out the trailer for the game down below.
