Multiplayer horror game Predator: Hunting Grounds announced
Predator: Hunting Grounds has been revealed, bringing a new entrant into the asymmetrical multiplayer arena of slaughter, horror and gore. You will have plenty of time to bleed in the new PS4 title, coming next year. Announced during the State of Play event today, the new title takes a ton of influences from the classic 80’s film and pushed it into 2019.
In true asymmetrical horror game style, there are two options to pick from. The player with the Predator has a range of ultra-advanced stealth tech similar to the source material. It’s limited-use to make it more balanced though. The weapons available to the Predator also reflect the original film. There are three classes for this choice, with Berserker, Hunter and Scout. Each one has their own unique weapon choices and themes. And yes, the shoulder-mounted plasma cannon is back.
The rest of the players will take on the role of normal human soldiers, stuck in the jungle with the Predator, and they seem woefully unprepared for the foe they’re about to face. We don’t get to see any details about player classes on the opfor side, but we can assume some kind of perk or class system will be part of the final game.
Colorado-based developer IllFonic, best known for its work on the 2017 horror title Friday the 13th: The Game, as well as multiplayer zombie FPS Dead Alliance, is working on this project, so it’s likely we will see some of that DNA brought forward into the newest project. We can see at least some of the locales in the game in the trailer, with the original jungle setting of the first film being a major player. As of now, it’s unclear if there will be more maps added post-launch.
Predator: Hunting Grounds is coming to PlayStation 4 on April 24, 2020. Check out the trailer for the game down below.
If you want to pre-order you can get some special bonuses upon release. Those who pre-order Predator: Hunting Grounds on PS4 will get an exclusive ’87 skin of the Predator (based on the 1987 film where the legendary extraterrestrial was introduced), and a giant mini-gun.
