Minecraft update 1.16.2 Patch Notes – Minecraft RTX Live

Minecraft isn’t a game that many would associate with stunning visuals, not by default anyway. The blocky textures have definitely come a long way since the alpha versions, that’s for sure. But, there’s always more room for improvement, and improve Mojang has. The beta for Minecraft RTX, the improved lighting model for the game using Nvidia tech, has finally finished. The new version is live with the 1.16.2 patch that enables the new engine in all its glory.

To further show off the difference RTX makes in Minecraft, there’s even a new gameplay trailer to let players see the lighting model in action. The game looks incredible thanks to the changes and you really should hop in if your rig is up to the task. But if you’re waiting around for an upgrade, you can at least whet your whistle with the video preview. Check that out below.

Minecraft RTX Requirements

Minecraft RTX is in the game, adding a ton of more robust lighting to the adventure and to the worlds of creators. The lighting model is much more realistic, and when combined with a solid shader pack, can really make the game shine. But what do you need to run this new mode, aside from an RTX Nvidia GPU of course. Any modern system with RTX-enabled GPUs should be able to handle it. For that, Nvidia recommends the following:

This update also brings OpenXR to Minecraft on Windows 10 to support Oculus VR and Windows MR. This will be good news for VR gamers.
