Minecraft Dungeons delayed to May

Minecraft Dungeons release date

Mojang has announced that Minecraft Dungeons has been delayed to May 26. The delay joins other major closures, delays, and cancellations coming in 2020 as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Just today, Sony announced that they have delayed The Last of Us Part II indefinitely as a result of the challenges posed by the sudden change to remote work.

The new spin-off game has a new exploration system that sees players exploring a variety of procedurally generated dungeons. Players will fight monsters, find loot, and explore the dark and dank caverns of the Minecraft world. The game has been announced for some time, and there has always been hype around the franchise, so fans were understandably excited.

“As we’re working from home to do our part in protecting our community, our workflows will unfortunately be impacted. We’re working hard to deliver Minecraft Dungeons in April, but we’re also re-evaluating our timeline to make sure we bring you the best game possible,” says Mojang in a recent statement on the delay.

Work on Minecraft Dungeons continues though, with developer Mojang opting to continue work on cross-play and other features for the title. On the new launch day, fans can expect to see it debut on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
