We’re right in the middle of holiday prep and celebrations in the US, and Microsoft wanted to hand out an early gift for gamers in the form of announcing the next batch of additions to monthly Games with Gold service offered as part of the Xbox Live Gold subscription system.
On January 1st, Celeste jumps onto the service. The indie darling is an excellent platformer with stellar visuals and tight controls, blended all together into a fun little mix of puzzles and platforming. If you loved the likes of Super Meat Boy, you’re sure to enjoy Celeste. On that same day, Lara Croft: Guardian of Light will join the fray for Xbox 360 owners. Lara Croft: Guardian of Light brings co-op action to the legendary adventures of gaming’s most iconic grave robber. Lara must brave hordes of the undead to find dozens of ancient and valuable relics, after solving a bevy of puzzles of course.
Starting on January 16th, two more games join the pack. First up is WRC 6 FIA World Rally Championship. In this hyper-realistic rally title, you can challenge your friends in online and local races across a wide array of tracks. And with an incredibly detailed driving and damage model in-game, WRC 6 offers plenty of challenge for the grizzled racing fan in you. The second addition for Xbox 360 gamers drops with Far Cry 2 on the 16th of January. This was the first truly open-world sequel for the franchise, and even though many people consider it to be pretty rough around the edges, the real-time impact of the story made the hunt for The Jackal that much more exciting.
To recap, on the Xbox One Celeste will be part of the offer from January 1st to the 31st, joined by WRC 6 from January 16th to February 15th. Xbox 360 owners will get Lara Croft: Guardian of Light on the 1st through the 15th of January, and then Far Cry 2 on the 16th through to the 31st.
And as with all other Games With Gold offerings, this bundle of games is free for anyone with an active Xbox Live Gold sub, and you can get access to these games and many more as long as your service is up-to-date.
