Metro Exodus developer 4A Games has a cool announcement for fans of the iconic shooter. Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition has been announced, and is coming soon. The updated version of the game will offer massively improved visuals and smoother play. The new version of the game will be a separate release, and will be entirely free to anyone who already owns the base game.
As 4A Games announced, they’re planning to really turn up the graphical quality.
“We have built an all-new Fully Ray Traced Lighting Pipeline that brings a number of optimisations, upgrades, and new features to the Ray Traced Global Illumination and Emissive Lighting that we pioneered with the original release of Metro Exodus, as well as an upgraded implementation of our powerful Temporal Reconstruction technology to further boost resolution, visual detail and performance,” 4A Games wrote in a blog post on the new versions.
“And we’ve pushed these enhancements to the limit to take advantage of the latest Ray Tracing capable GPU hardware from Nvidia and AMD, to create the ultimate version for our PC enthusiast fans.”
All of this graphical power will come with DLSS 2.0 support and full ray-tracing too. But that’s not all the good news, as the console port is also coming. Support for advanced effects will be more limited, but there is a 60 FPS target being aimed at. The newest consoles get full 4K support, while older consoles, and the Series X, will aim for 1080p or lower. The PS5 also supports haptic feedback, adding to the immersion.
Along with all of this, there are plans to finally bring an updated version to new platforms. There will be a Mac version of Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition coming to the Apple Store. There’s also a Linux port in the works. 4A Games is looking to bring out the new version in Spring 2021.
