Awesome news for Mega Man and Capcom fans, as a brand new collection of great retro titles is headed out next year. The Mega Man Zero/ZX Collection was already essentially confirmed yesterday when it leaked on PSN for users in Hong Kong. Capcom has now officially confirmed that the game is real, and that it is due next year. Check it out in the trailer below.
The full list of games included, all of which are from the GBA and DS eras as portable titles, is as follows.
- Mega Man Zero (Game Boy Advance)
- Mega Man Zero 2 (Game Boy Advance)
- Mega Man Zero 3 (Game Boy Advance)
- Mega Man Zero 4 (Game Boy Advance)
- Mega Man ZX (Nintendo DS)
- Mega Man ZX Advent (Nintendo DS)
These six games followed the major revival of the franchise that was the Mega Man X games. The Zero titles follow who else but the long-haired red guy himself, Zero. These titles innovated on the classic platformer action formula of the preceeding titles by adding both a new ranking system as well as a gameplay system built upon attaining better ranks with Zero.
The gameplay itself is pretty standard fair for the franchise, but does throw some interesting bosses and missions into the mix. And of course, there’s the great art style and musical compositions that make these games really shine for hardcore fans.
As part of this announcement, Capcom has also confirmed some rather awesome news for fans that are hyped enough to pre-order the full collection. Those who pre-order get a copy of a new soundtrack for the collection that includes ten new tracks featured throughout the various games. There is one new stage remix in each of the six games, and four bonus Music Player tracks included in this bundle.
The Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection will also include an in-game gallery showing off hundreds of art work samples and soundtracks from various levels, it’s within this gallery that the aforementioned pre-order bonuses can be found.
The full is due to launch on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and PC on January 21st, 2020.
