After being revealed on N7 day BioWare confirmed that Mass Effect: Legendary Edition would come out in Spring 2021. That means we’re getting pretty close. And it turns out we might already know when the game is coming out. Indonesian retailer GSShop has apparently leaked the details of the release, leading to many suspect for a mid-March release. But we can get even more specific than that.
March 21, 2021 is listed as the date the game comes out fully. That would mean you would be able to find the game for sale on that date, and pre-order it before then. Other retails also list similar dates, suggesting that it’s genuine.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is probably getting a specal texture and model update that will make it look much more refined in 4K. Although it’s impossibe to say for sure what the scope of the remaster will be. A renaster has been teased for years, and fans were hopeful for it to deliver on all the hype. And this is something BioWare has been hoping to make good on for a while. The remater was first revealed last year, and could feature textures, shaders, models, effects and technical features all getting revamped.
“Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernise the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form,” BioWare boss Casey Hudson said at the time.
The gameplay and features will largely be the same though, as it’s effectively the same game underneath all that. And yes, all of the previously-released DLC packs for the game are coming too. BioWare has promised that more news is on teh way though, as we’re still waiting to see some actual gameplay.
The game will likely feature a nice new texture set and will have all the content from the original games included. Everything will look nice and new again. And even though it’s running up to 4K UHD, the game will get a port to the PS4 and Xbox One. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is slated to release on PS4, Xbox One, PC. There will not be a new generation version, but the Xbox One and PS4 versions will work on those platforms.
