Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales XP, combat and more explained

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Basics Guide

The combat is as fast and fluid as ever in this new PS5 title. You will need to make use of various tech upgrades, gadgets and special abilities as you play through the game. The most important abilities are your Venom attacks. You can trigger these with L1 to transform into the powerful symbiote by pairing L1 with a face button. You can also trigger a special AoE attack via the  Venom Mega Blast attack. That’s triggered by pressing  L1 along with Triangle and Circle.

Camouflage can be very useful for evasion and stealth. Use the Up button on the D-pad to trigger that. It’s going to have a time limit, so move pretty quickly when you need to go invisible.

With that in mind, let’s talk about some other stuff as well.

How to Web Sling in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Marvel’s Spider-Man was critically acclaimed for having great movement and some pretty engaging web slinging. Web slinging is pretty important in the new spin-off as well. In Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the web-swinging mechanics remain very similar to the last version of the game. Use R2 and X to manage swinging around the city, starting from freefall.

Press R2 to gain elevation while slinging. Hold down R2 as you’re swinging to push your momentum upwards, release R2 to finish the movement. You can also press X at the end of the swing, just before you release R2, you will pop off as if you’re jumping in mid-air. This is called a Point Launch and it’s very useful for getting around the city faster. You could also use pressing R3 to dive quickly downward. This is good for jumping down to lower targets as you’re slinging around the city.

Skills and XP are important too

Skill points are earned by leveling up in the game. Each time you level up, you gain one skill point. Players can spend their skill points however they wish, and tweak their build however they would like. You do have to progress through the story to unlock some skills though.

There are a lot of skills and different effects that you can unlock through playing the game. You earn XP just by playing the game and completing missions. One of the best ways to earn extra XP is to go around and look for side activities. There are a ton of side activities in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales that you can do. Solve the small puzzles and tasks you find around the city, and hunt all those hidden collectibles. Some of these activities will award Activity Tokens, which can be spent on various skill and gadget updates. Getting through the entire game and moving into New Game+ can also unlock some special items.
